Every year Broadoak College recognises the success of our students at our Annual Awards Evening. This year’s event was held on Tuesday 7th July and the College was delighted to welcome Rae Hicks, the contemporary artist as their guest speaker. The guests of honour were Deputy Mayor, Councillor Alan Peak and Deputy Mayoress, Mrs Jacqueline Peak.
Rae Hicks, is a celebrated artist who studied originally at Goldsmith‘s College in London and in Hamburg. His reputation has gone from strength to strength over the past 5 years on the back of prestigious exhibitions across the UK and Europe. Broadoak’s connection with this 26 year old artist is that his father Jack Hicks is Head of Art, here at Broadoak!
At the Awards Ceremony over 80 students’ efforts and achievements were recognised and rewarded by the staff and governors and each student received a certificate and book.
Students are awarded prizes in three areas:
Achievement – for students who have performed at a high level consistently throughout the year.
Progress – for students who have made excellent progress across a range of subjects.
Citizenship – for students who have frequently worked hard within the school community and for the benefit of others.
Each Year Head also awarded a prize and proudly gave their reasons for choosing these outstanding individuals.
