Year 9 students were given the opportunity to take part in a special effects make -up workshop led by professional Make -up Artist and college lecturer Sue Skinner. Sue was one of the make -up artists on the TV show ‘Casualty’ and now teaches at Weston College. Before we were able to put the wound make-up on our partners, we were sat down and given a demonstration by Sue. She showed us how to apply the wax to make it look like there were holes, cuts and grazes on our skin and how to effectively apply the fake blood in splatters around the wound to make it look realistic. After she told us what to do and how to do it we were allowed to practice on our partners. Everyone completed different wounds on each other and there were many secret experts, I was really impressed with some of the group’s work. Overall the experience was very good as well as inspiring, opening people’s minds to the skills needed as well as creativity.
