Year 5 Maths Challenge Day 2016
On Friday 20th May we held a Maths Challenge day for Year 5 students. 30 Year 5 students from Christ Church, Hutton, Oldmixon, Walliscote and Windwhistle primary schools joined us for a day of maths problems and even a maths relay.
The Year 5 students completed a hoping and jumping frogs problem, an investigation to find the prime suspect and finished off with a maths relay which had them running across the dance studio to give the next question to their teams. The day was supported and led by teachers at Broadoak Maths and Computing College and supported by a number of Broadoak students.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the day, extending their maths and problem solving skills and meeting lots of new friends from other schools. The visiting students provided so very positive feedback, such as
“It made maths fun and I enjoyed it. I would like to come again.”
“I love your way of maths, it made maths amazing.”
and “Best day ever!!!”
