For the second year running, Broadoak students had a range of fantastic opportunities for enrichment, which took place instead of normal lessons over 3 days. Students were able to take part in activities such as cake decorating, robot wars, ready steady cook, upcycling and many more. They were able to experience something completely new or to develop skills in a chosen activity.
We were very fortunate to have a range of coaches for tennis, football, cricket and archery from outside of the school, and Bridgwater College put on a number of workshops including barbering and media make up.
Students went out on visits to a variety of venues to include Harry Potter World, Lulworth Cove, the Tank Museum and Monkey World in Dorset, the Mendip Outdoor Pursuits Centre and even to the “Air Tattoo” at Fairford. These were all great experiences For the first time this year, we had a number of residential opportunities as well. A 3-day trip to York which included a visit to Alton Towers on the way home, 3 days at PGL Barton Hall, a sporting activity break in Torbay and a trip to “Zip World” and “Bounce Below”. Great fun was had by all!
The Armed Forces provided the final day of activities for Year 9 and it was brilliant to see them conquer their fears and work in teams to solve challenges. The weather held up which made the whole experience even better.
Once again, it has been an amazing experience for all staff and students who have enjoyed participating in the activities and seeing each other in a different way, developing skills at the same time. We look forward to another successful programme next year with an even greater range of activities, trips and visits on offer. A huge thank you to all for taking part with such enthusiasm.
