Everyone here at Broadoak College is thrilled with this year’s GCSE results. An impressive 66% of students gained 5 or more A*- C grades with a notable 15% of the grades being A * and A. English was 62% and Maths 64% However, the College is particularly delighted with the excellent progress the students have made since joining at the age of 11, which means a high number of students have achieved their personal best!oweverr, it is
Shelagh Pritchard, Headteacher enthused, “I am delighted with our 2015 results, we have introduced some very innovative learning programmes for our core subjects and we have already seen the results with an anticipated 52% of students gaining A* - C in English and Maths. We are particularly pleased with improvements from last year, our Maths results show a staggering 17% improvement which is contrary to the national trend and is especially impressive as the exams are getting harder.”
The number of students gaining A* and As across all subjects was really excellent and bucks the national trend. An impressive number of students also gained Distinction* awards for our BTEC vocational courses. In other subjects 90% of Further Maths, Triple Science, Philosophy & Ethics and Textiles students passed with A* - C.
Ms Pritchard added, "Some of Broadoak’s high achievers include Julie Abraham 5A*, 5A and a Distinction, Josh Cottle 10A*, 1A, Zainhab Riyaz 2A*, 8A and a Distinction, Millie Dadds 2A*, 8A and a Distinction, Danny Crundwell, 4A*. 4A 2B, Amy Bond 3A*, 6A 1B. However, not all students can achieve top grades and we are very proud of the many students who worked hard to achieve their personal best, so a special well done to them too!"
