On Friday 25th May, Year 11 students at Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College celebrated their time at the College with a celebration assembly. Families and members of our community were invited to join students to celebrate their time at Broadoak, sharing memories and achievements. Each tutor presented one student in their tutor group with a Tutor Excellence Award and this year’s winners were Max, Zaira, Ellie Mae, Katie, Sona, Charlotte and Sam with the Year Leader Excellence Award being presented to Josh.
Everyone was interested to hear the memories of Head Boy (Dylan) and Head Girl (Maddie). They talked fondly of how they have developed throughout their time at Broadoak, the relationships they have formed and the memories they will take with them.
Assistant Headteacher Mr Kirkby has been learning to play the piano during the time this year’s Year 11 group has been working on their GCSE, he demonstrated what hard work and perseverance can produce by playing "Easy" by Lionel Ritchie for the students and families as they arrived.
Head teacher, Ms McGillycuddy, talked about how impressed she has been in her first year at Broadoak by the dedication and commitment of the students. Their hard work will be fruitful for successful future education and beyond into adulthood. She said “my only regret is that I have not been your head teacher longer”.
Year 11 Leader Mr Perham said, “I am extremely proud of the commitment that this group of students have shown to Broadoak and their studies over the past 5 years. It has been a privilege to serve as their Year Leader and there is no doubt in my mind that these young people will go on to have the most amazingly successful futures. We will all miss them dearly but wish them every success for their future endeavours.”
