The Performing Arts Faculty ended their busiest term of the year in style with their Christmas Carol Concert which was held on Monday 17th December in aid of the Weston-super-Mare Foodbank.
It featured an array of musical performances interspersed with Christmas carols and readings including our two featured Christmas poems. We had an overwhelming response to the Christmas Creative Writing Competition this year and would like to say “thank you" and "well done" to all who submitted an entry, and a huge congratulations to our winners: Diddy (7B) and Daniella in (8K) for their Christmas poems.
This year our instrument ensembles, joined by staff and parent instrumentalists, entertained the audience with festive pieces arranged by Mrs Aves and Miss Hinchliffe. The choirs and solo singers have been working extremely hard in the lead up to the concert but the vocal highlight for many was Josh’s (11Q) captivating performance of ‘Power of Love’ that left not many a dry eye in the house.
Mrs Marshall (Chair of Governors) wrote: “It is very clear that there is a wealth of talent amongst Broadoak students and it is very gratifying to see them given such an excellent platform to showcase it.”
The Performing Arts Team would like to take the opportunity to thank St Paul’s church for once again giving us such a warm welcome and for all the technical support throughout the event. A big thank you goes out to all the staff and students who performed and read so well that evening, and thank you to everyone who came to support us in raising (in addition to the donations of packaged food) a fantastic £112.21 for our local foodbank.
Keep an eye out for our up-coming events: ‘Broadoak’s Got Talent’ and ‘Peter Pan’.
From all of us in Performing Arts: Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.
