Getting to know our students well is a top priority at Broadoak. Every student is a member of a Tutor Group whose personal and academic progress is overseen by a tutor and a Year Leader. The tutor is the crucial link between home and school and we encourage regular communication between the tutor and parents/carers. Tutors meet with their tutees every day, as well as delivering an hour’s PHSCE lesson each week. This means they really get to know our students as individuals and can effectively monitor academic progress, attendance and behaviour, providing individualised support, care and guidance.
Throughout their time here students are set challenging targets and their progress towards these targets is continuously monitored and assessed. We keep parents fully informed through frequent reporting updates and parents’ meetings.
At Broadoak we take great pride in the high standards of our students’ behaviour; we promote self disciplined and effective working habits and place great emphasis on respect for all people within the College community. A copy of the student planner is issued to all students annually; this sets out the school’s expectations, which are based on the firm belief that every child can achieve their ‘Personal Best’.
